Today, I am home alone! For the first time since Raphaël was born, I am totally alone at home, but I am not lonely at all. Since last week, I got chickenpox, that is why I prefer to stay at home. I do not want to be a virus to everyone, moreover to babies and children! Besides, I still have dried zits on my face!! hubby and little one are out somewhere, visiting hubby’ssister, and I guess they are out in a mall. They can’t go to the park because it is raining.
Raphaël is now 13 months old. It has been just two weeks, I saw big big improvement! He now can sit on his own!! Yaaaayyyy!!!! What a good job!!! It is so cute everytime he looks at me with those little dark eyes with proud feeling, showing his Mama that he can sit on his own!! He is now learning how to crawl!! Finally!!! And he talks!!!! Ohhhh, he can’t stop talking now! he likes to talk and talk and talk and talk……even when he is alone!!….Also, he likes to taste food, and he can chew!! Good job my boy!! ![]()
(he does not like big pieces on his food, it is like that he is choked when he eats them)…..

I remember, I read many articles and books about baby’s growth and what can a baby do at certain age. Until age 6 months, everything looks just like what the books say, but then…….I started to think there was something wrong with my boy when he does not do things just like what’s in the book! It is true it made me worried back then. But my husband kept telling me that every baby has his/her own characteristic. No need to compare one baby to another, at the same age or not. Every single baby is different!
Now I see!
Raphaël started to like to be on tummy position when he was about 10 months old! He did that when he was younger, about 3 months old, but after that, no more tummy time until age 10 months. He did not like to be on tummy position, he protested, he cried. But starting age 10 months, he likes the idea on the tummy position, perhaps it gives him new perspective, new sensation. Since then, he makes his body getting stronger, get ready for the next step, which is to be on all fours. And just about a couple of weeks ago, he made it to sit on his own!! Now, he is learning to crawl!! at age 13 months!!
Perhaps it sounds a little late to start to crawl at this age, but let me know it is never too late!! Raphaël can sit straight (with our help) at age 6 months! He can stand up (with our help again) at the same time. He had his first teeth around 7 months. Those are the big milestones. Of course there are more other things that we did not pay attention too much, for example he liked to makes noises with this little mouth and tongue, he loves to explore things with his little fingers, he loves to flip flap his sturdy books, he loves to moves his body, etc, etc ,etc.
So, it is best not to compare our babies to other babies. Each baby has his/her own rythym and characteristics. I thank GOD for my bundle of joy

j’entends déjà “awas, hati-hati Raphaël”, “No, tidak boleh!”, “Mama bilang NO!” hahaha
